The crab nebula is very interesting as we seen it take place nearly 1000 years ago. We have records that indicate when this Super Nova went off, Chinese astronomers were able to witness it. Not only could they witness it but they could see it in the day time for weeks. What is even stranger is that no one in Europe has recorded anything about this. The absolute death of a star is a miraculous site and it is likely humanity will not see another with the naked eye for a great many years.
